Ear Surgery, Glasgow – From £24 per month

Although prominent ears affect a relatively small percentage of the population in the United Kingdom this condition can be a source of torment with some people being teased, particularly during their school years, leading to a loss of self-confidence.

In many cases the shape and position of the ears is inherited, with multiple members of a family having similar ear shapes.

More prominent ears often lack a normal fold at the back of the ear which positions the back of the ear against the side of the hear, and in some cases one ear can be more prominent than the other.

The medical term for an ear correction is a “Pinnaplasty” or “Otoplasty” which is an operation to adjust the cartilage within the ear to create a deeper fold which will allow the ear to lie closer to the side of the head.

Because the operation is carried out from behind the ears, a small scar is left close to the groove between the ear and the side of the head.

The procedure can be carried out under local anaesthetic, and typically will take less than 60 mins

Earlobe Surgery

In order to follow fashion, people opt for multiple piercings or tribal inserts in their earlobes, which after time, can cause the earlobe to stretch or tear and become unsightly at which point they may decide to have their earlobes repaired.

Earlobe surgery is a common procedure, performed under local anaesthesia. These procedures often help those who are frustrated with the shape (bat ears), large earlobes or holes created by earrings that have then torn or the insertion of Tribal inserts, which stretch the earlobe and result in large holes when removed.

These problems are common for both men and women and are easily repaired by cutting a small notch on the torn lobes then carefully stitching the lobe back.

This procedure will typically take around 45 minutes when both earlobes are repaired.
Those patients wanting to re-pierce the lobe may do so after about 6 months.
